Muslims of Southern Russia are preparing to celebrate Eid al-Fitr
The authorities of the majority of the republics of Northern Caucasus and Adygea announced days off on the occasion of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. On the eve of the celebration, the leader of Ingushetia called on the law enforcement bodies to give relief to petty offenders, and the Caucasian Muftiates reported holding collective iftars (collective breaking of the fasting) not only in their regions, but also beyond them.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this year, the first day of fasting of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan fell on May 6. Chechnya announced June 4-6 the days off in connection with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, and in Dagestan, June 5, 6, and 7 were announced to be days off.
Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the leader of Ingushetia, signed a decree according to which June 4, 5, and 6 were announced the days off on the occasion of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. At the today's meeting in Magas, the Ingush leader addressed the law enforcement bodies with a request to give relief to petty offenders in the days of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
Rashid Temrezov, the leader of Karachay-Cherkessia, signed a decree to announce June 5 a day off in connection with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. Already today, on the eve of the holiday, collective iftars will be held in all cities and districts of the republic, and mass evening prayers will be performed as part of the republic-wide iftar, the RIA KChR reports.
On the eve of the holiday, the Muftiate of Dagestan also announced holding of collective iftars not only in the region, but also outside it. On its website, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Dagestan published the information about the collective breaking of the fasting by believers in Moscow, Kirov, Norilsk, and Kemerovo.
