Armenian judge instructed to reconsider Kocharyan's case

The case of Robert Kocharyan has been handed over to David Grigoryan, who had claimed self-disqualification, when freedom restriction measure of the second Armenian President was discussed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 16, investigators put forward the charges on the case of clashes of law enforcers with protesting oppositionists on March 1-2, 2008, to the second Armenian President, Robert Kocharyan, and three other former high-ranking officials. On April 29, 2019, the country's General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) announced the transfer of the case to the court and accused Robert Kocharyan of receiving bribes in the amount of 3 million US dollars. By May 6, four judges announced their self-disqualification from the Kocharyan's case.

The criminal case against the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, has been assigned to David Grigoryan, a judge of the general jurisdiction court of Yerevan, the "Panorama.am" has reported today with reference to the Judicial Department.

According to the edition, the judge was selected based on the random distribution of cases by using computer software.

David Grigoryan had once taken a self-disqualification, when he refused to consider the issue of a Robert Kocharyan's freedom restriction measure: disciplinary proceedings of his refusal are underway, the "Lragir.am" writes.
