Medical examiners of Georgia and Abkhazia voice out different reasons of Kvaratskheliya's death

Georgian medical experts have found traces of a rope on the body of Irakli Kvaratskheliya, who had been detained in Abkhazia. The border administration of the Russia's FSB has confirmed the version of his non-violent death.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Irakli Kvaratskheliya, a citizen of Georgia, died on March 10 after being detained during an attempt to cross the border with Abkhazia. Eyewitnesses reported that he was beaten up after detention.

The Abkhazian party handed over the body of Kvaratskheliya to their Georgian counterparts on March 13 on the bridge over the Inguri River in the presence of representatives of the Geneva consultations.

The body was examined for five hours at the L.Samkharauli National Bureau of Forensic Medicine. Experts found minor marks on the neck. "There are rope traces; there is virtually no more damage. Something will become clear after an additional examination," the "Georgia Online" has quoted Irakli Toidze, an expert of the bureau, as saying.

The Bureau of Forensic Examination of the Ministry of Public Health of Abkhazia has confirmed the Kvaratskheliya's non-violent death. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is being conducted by Russian authorities, the State Security Service of Abkhazia has reported.
