Actions in support of Anastasia Shevchenko held in six Russian cities

Solo pickets in support of Anastasia Shevchenko, a member of the federal office of "The Open Russia" from Rostov-on-Don were held in Kazan, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don and Tver. In Saint Petersburg, a series of pickets was organized by about a dozen activists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Anastasia Shevchenko was detained on January 21 after a search conducted at her home in Rostov-on-Don. A criminal case was initiated against her under Article 284.1 of the Russia's Criminal Code (activity of the organization recognized as undesirable in the territory of Russia). This case was the first in Russia, opened under this article. On February 8, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" declared Shevchenko to be a political prisoner.

In Kazan, a solo picket in support of Anastasia Shevchenko was held by activist Renat Salimov. Also, solo pickets were held in Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don and Tver, the "donnews.ru" wrote on March 9.

About a dozen activists took part in the action in Saint Petersburg; they held a series of solo pickets.
