Chechen woman evicted from dormitory publicly apologizes on TV

On February 11, on the air of the Chechen TV Channel, Malida Mageramova, a resident of Chechnya, apologized for her video appeal to the authorities with a complaint about eviction from a dormitory.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Chechnya repeatedly voiced public apologies. So, in January, a woman from Chechnya apologized for her attempt to help her son living in Europe.

On February 11, in its evening news, the "Grozny" TV Channel reported a story with Malida Mageramova, a resident of the Naur District, and showed a mobile phone video in which the woman complained about her eviction from a room in a Grozny dormitory.

Authors of the TV story explained that the woman had been evicted by the court decision.

Malida Mageramova has eight adult children. Three of them, including two sons and a daughter, were invited together with their mother to meet for conversation Shamil Ocharov, Vice-Mayor of Grozny, reported the authors of the TV story.

"You speak as if an injustice has been committed against you and as if you have no close people. But you have eight children," Shamil Ocharov told Malida Mageramova. The official also reprimanded the woman's children for their inattention to the mother.

A son of Malida Mageramova replied he knew nothing about his mother's situation.

The elderly woman herself apologized on the air of the TV Channel for her video appeal. "Please forgive me. I regret about that," said Malida Mageramova, whose statement was translated into Russian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The son of Malida Mageramova promised to take care of his mother and also said he would no longer let the woman to "live in dormitories," reported the authors of the TV story.
