Bride abduction in Vladikavkaz outrages social networks

Social network users have expressed their concern for the health of a young girl from Vladikavkaz, who was hit twice with her head against the asphalt during the bride abduction rite.

The practice of bride abduction remains fairly common in the Caucasus; abductions occur from time to time in Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia.

A video of bride abduction in Vladikavkaz appeared in social networks on January 27 and caused heated users' debates.

The video shows abductors blocking the girl's way, throwing a burka (cloak) over her head and carrying her down the stairs. At the bottom, the young man stumbles and drops the "bride" on the asphalt with her head down. After a few meters, he again dropped her in the same way, and only then, with the help of his friends, puts her into the car.

Social network users express sympathy to the girl and condemn the actions of the young man. Many suppose that the girl needed the doctors' help.

"He dropped her twice, with her head down! It's seen that she holds her head; maybe she has a concussion, but he picks her up and drags further. Guys wanted to have fun, and the girl suffered," the user wesnushkina wrote on the Instagram.

Soslan Pliev, a blogger and a writer, dedicated a long, ironic post in his Telegram channel to the incident. He sharply criticized the young men, who had organized such unfortunate bride abduction, and expressed disapproval of this practice in general.
