NKR calls on Azerbaijan not to violate truce during New Year holidays

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has accused the authorities of Azerbaijan of violating the truce, and urged to refrain from aggravating the conflict during the holidays.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the period from December 16 to December 22, the NKR's MoD counted 200 Azerbaijani attacks. In its turn, Azerbaijan, which is fixing shelling attacks of its positions from the territory of the NKR and Armenia on the daily basis, on December 26, claimed about 27 armistice violations during the last 24 hours.

The oral agreement of the parties to the conflict is not respected, the NKR's MoD has noted. "Azerbaijan continues intensively violating the ceasefire regime," the MoD has stated.

On the eve of the New Year, the NKR has called on Azerbaijan to observe the ceasefire regime, at least during the holidays.

Tigran Abramyan, Advisor to the President of the NKR, has noted that the situation on the troops contact line remains stable. Whether there will be new clashes in 2019 depends largely on the upcoming meetings of Armenian and Azerbaijani officials, he has added.
