In Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili wins election with more than 59% of votes

In Georgia, after the counting of votes from 99.7% of polling stations in the presidential election, the independent candidate Salome Zurabishvili supported by the ruling "Georgian Dream" Party is in the lead. She gained 59.56% of the votes. Grigol Vashadze, a candidate of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party, gained 40.44% of the votes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 28, Georgian residents voted in the second round of the presidential election. The opposition complained about the massive bribing of voters.

The first round of the presidential election was held in Georgia on October 28.

Salome Zurabishvili was supported by 1,146,000 voters, while Grigol Vashadze  by 778,000, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia.

"I assess my victory as a victory of civil society," stated Salome Zurabishvili as quoted by the "Sputnik-Georgia".
