Refusal from street action splits Ingush opposition

The decision of the organizing committee to stop the rally in Magas has nullified the two weeks of protest of Ingush activists; none of the demands have been fulfilled, the co-chairs of the "Mekhk Khel" movement have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since October 4, in Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, there was a mass action against changing the border with Chechnya, which was interrupted in order to get ready for the World Congress of the Ingush People. Today, the organizers of protest have urged the activists to complete the action and "continue acting within the legal framework."

On October 30, the Ingush Constitutional Court (CC) declared the law on the border with Chechnya unconstitutional.

Sarazdin Sultygov and Musa Albogachiev, the Ingush oppositionists, have reproached protesters' leaders of giving up the demands of the rally.

"We haven't fulfilled and achieved anything. Only the CC made a decision, but independently of us," Mr Sultygov has stated.

Mr Albogachiev, a co-chair of the "Mekhk Khel", is also confident that it was too early to stop the protest.

However, Malsag Uzhakhov and Barakh Chemurziev, members of the organizing committee of the rally, regard that protesters' goals have been achieved.
