Kremlin distances itself from problem of border between Ingushetia and Chechnya

Lawyers are engaged in studying the agreement on the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia, said Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov when answering a question about the Moscow's intervention in the situation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 30, the Ingush Constitutional Court found the law on the border with Chechnya unconstitutional. In turn, Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov said that the decision pronounced by the Constitutional Court did not cancel the agreement on the border, since it had already come into force. According to the leader of Ingushetia, the problem should be resolved by the Constitutional Court of Russia.

The Ingush Constitutional Court could not refuse to consider the issue on the legality of the agreement, believes Dmitry Timchenko, a lawyer at the "Trunov, Aivar, and Partners" international company.

However, according to lawyers Dmitry Agranovsky and Alexander Karabanov, the Constitutional Court of Ingushetia has no right to resolve issues related to the delimitation of the border and MPs should have sent a request to the Constitutional Court of Russia.

Acts unilaterally adopted by the bodies of Ingushetia will not have legal force, Alexander Karabanov believes.
