Three PFPA activists left under arrest until December

In Baku, the court has extended the detention in custody for Babek Gasanov, Agil Magerramov, and Ruslan Nasirli, activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA). The defence intends to challenge the court's decision.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 25, Agil Magerramov, a member of the PFPA Presidium, Ruslan Nasirli, the chairman for the Mejlis of the PFPA Youth Committee, and Babek Gasanov, the head of the PFPA district organization, were detained and soon arrested for four months. The detention took place three days before a rally to be held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The law enforcement bodies accused the PFPA activists, including Russian citizen Salekh Rustamov and Vidadi Rustamli, detained on May 9 and 10, of laundering money.

Let us remind you that on September 1, the Working Group of Azerbaijani rights defenders, NGO activists, and lawyers published an updated list of political prisoners, enlisting 128 names. The PFPA activists are also included in the list.
