Robert Kocharyan, former Armenian President, forbidden to leave the country
The investigators took a written recognizance not to leave the country from the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, who was accused within the case of dispersal of the oppositional rally.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 13 the Court of Appeal overturned the decision on Kocharyan's arrest, referring to his immunity as a former president. On September 1, his advocates lodged a complaint to the Court of Cassation.
Robert Kocharyan will not be able to leave Armenia, the Special Investigation Service has reported.
Let us remind you that Kocharyan was arrested on July 27 on charges of overthrowing the constitutional order in connection with the dispersal of protests in Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008. Then, after the dispersal of the oppositional rally, which could not agree with the victory of Serzh Sargsyan at the presidential election, mass riots began in the country. Ten people were killed and more than 250 were wounded in clashes with the police.
