Georgian Premier specifies conditions for restoring relations with Russia

The withdrawal of Russian troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia may signal the normalization of relations with Russia, Mamuka Bakhtadze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, has stated. The Russia's presence in these territories affects "extremely negatively" on people's lives after the "Five-Day War", the UK representative to the United Nations has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that August 8 marked 10 years after the start of the Russia's special operation of "forcing to peace in the peacemakers' responsibility zone," which entered the history as "The Five-Day War".

"In 2008, a ceasefire agreement was signed, and I again want to call on Russia to fulfil its obligations and withdraw its troops from the territory of Georgia," Mr Bakhtadze has stated as reported by the "News-Georgia".

On August 8, the UN Security Council discussed the situation in the "occupied territories of Georgia," the "Georgia-Online" reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Georgia.

According to Karen Pearce, the United Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Russia "continues deploying military personnel and equipment in Georgia, and developing military cooperation with the de facto authorities of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and building artificial barriers that damage the reconciliation process."

Let us remind you that Russian militaries hold exercises on the Black Sea coast in Abkhazia.
