Azerbaijani MoD reports detention of Armenian saboteur

On July 15, at the border, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD), Azerbaijani soldiers detained a member of an Armenian reconnaissance and sabotage grouping, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.

"The Armenian reconnaissance and sabotage grouping has made an attempt to cross the contact line of the troops on the section of the Gazakh District of the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border," the Azerbaijani MoD reports on its website.

Soldiers of the Azerbaijani armed forces have suppressed the attempt, and the enemy grouping suffered losses and had to retreat. According to the MoD, the Azerbaijani army did not suffer losses, and "one of the members of the sabotage grouping was captured."

The Azerbaijani MoD reports about a 34-year-old man. The MoD's website published a photo of the captive and his personal data, which he reported to Azerbaijani law enforcers.

The detained man is a resident of the Berdavan village in the Tavush Region of Armenia, who is not a member of the armed forces, reported Ashot Agaronyan, the chief of the press service for the Armenian Police.

Arthur Ovannisyan, the spokesman for the Armenian Ministry of Defence, has also announced that the man declared to be an Armenian intelligence agent "does not serve and never served in the armed forces of Armenia," the "Radio Azatutyun" quotes Arthur Ovannisyan and Ashot Agaronyan as reporting.
