Pavel Grib beaten when transferred to Rostov-on-Don, defence reports

While being transported from Krasnodar to Rostov-on-Don, Pavel Grib, accused of terrorism, was subjected to beating. At the Rostov SIZO (pre-trial prison), he is being mistreated, and he complains about deterioration of his health state, his advocate reports today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that 19-year-old citizen Pavel Grib disappeared in Belarus in late August, and on September 7 was found in Krasnodar SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 5. The territorial FSB branch informed Ukrainian diplomats that Pavel Grib was kept there charged under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorism).

Pavel Grib is charged with the fact that he tried to persuade his friend to blow up an improvised explosive device (IED) during a graduation school meeting in Sochi.

In the evening on July 3, Marina Dubrovina, a Pavel Grib's advocate, visited the defendant at the SIZO in Rostov-on-Don, where he was transferred from the SIZO in Krasnodar.

According to the advocate, during the transportation from Krasnodar to Rostov-on-Don, Pavel Grib was beaten. He is also being mistreated by warders from the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) and other arrested persons. "They treat him as a terrorist," Marina Dubrovina has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent today. She has explained that Pavel Grib refused to specify the details of the mistreatment.

The advocate reports that Pavel Grib complains about the deterioration of his health state in connection with his chronic illness. "In Krasnodar, medical officers examined him and wrote in conclusion that he was not diagnosed with any diseases that would prevent his detention in custody. He suffers from a rare disease, and there are no specialists in Krasnodar who can confirm the diagnosis," reported Marina Dubrovina. The advocate also noted that Pavel Grib "looked very bad" and complained of constant dizziness.
