About 100 people come to presentation of film about Kalmyk soldiers killed in Chechnya

On June 29, Elista hosted a presentation of the documentary film "When I Return-3", dedicated to soldiers and officers from Kalmykia, killed during the second Chechen war and counterterrorist operations (CTOs) in Northern Caucasus.

About 100 people come to the presentation, reports the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent who attended the event.

"The film consists of 20 stories about soldiers and officers killed in the second Chechen military campaign and during the CTOs in Northern Caucasus. In total, 50 natives of Kalmykia were killed in Northern Caucasus," reported Kishtyan Kinzeeva, a supervisor of the project, the head of the Kalmyk regional branch of the "Russian Union of Women".

Mothers of the deceased soldiers also came to the presentation of the film. In their conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, they expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that their families still did not have the status of families of killed soldiers and officers and thus they were deprived of the opportunities to enjoy the appropriate benefits.

"That's good that they got a grant and shot a film. Meanwhile, nothing changes in terms of material support of the state," said Valentina Ochir-Goryaeva, the head for the Kalmyk regional branch of the "All-Russian Social Organization for Families of Killed Defendants of the Fatherland". Her son Aleksey was killed in Chechnya in 2001.
