Experts: NATO exercises in Georgia do not threaten Russia
NATO warships, which arrived in the port of Georgia for exercises, do not threaten Russia. A training group mainly consists of warships of the Black Sea countries, which do not carry powerful weapons, military experts note.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 15, four warships of the NATO naval group entered the Georgian port of Poti in order to conduct military exercises with Georgia.
The warships can carry weapons with the range of destruction enough to destroy targets in Russia, notes Pavel Felgenhauer, an observer of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta". However, among the warships there are no US military vessels, which could become an "unpleasant moment" for Moscow.
The military expert has reported that at present, there is a group of US ships in the Mediterranean Sea, precisely in the place from where they bombed Syria. A Russian frigate monitors a US aircraft carrier. However, Pavel Felgenhauer does not associate the above with the military exercises in Georgia.
Such military exercises are pre-planned, and Russia should not experience discomfort and tension, believes military observer Alexander Golts.
Military political analyst Alexander Perendjiev has also pointed out that the military exercises take place at a sufficiently large distance from Russia.
