Nikol Pashinyan suspends protest actions in Armenia

Protests are suspended to allow the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) time to guarantee the support of the candidate for Premiership from the opposition, said Nikol Pashinyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today in different regions of the country the protests were supported by strikes of lawyers, doctors, miners, seamstresses and employees of the Yerevan airport.

The decision to suspend protests has to do with the statement of Vagram Bagdasaryan, the head of the RPA's parliamentary faction. Mr Pashinyan has explained. Bagdasaryan said that the RPA's faction would support the candidacy nominated by a third of the MPs, and will not nominate its candidate for the post of Prime Minister.

"We'll support Nikol Pashinyan without any preconditions," said Gagik Tsarukyan, the head of the oppositional "Tsarukyan bloc".
