Leader of Armenian opposition announces resumption of protests (+video)

Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of protest actions in Armenia, whose candidacy for the post of Prime Minister was denied today by the MPs, has called on his supporters to block roads and governmental buildings. As stated by Vagram Bagdasaryan, the head of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), has stated that his faction refused to support Pashinyan, because they fear for the country's security.

Today, Pashinyan has one 45 MPs' votes out of the necessary 53; while 56 MPs have voted against him. If they fail to elect the Premier until May 8, the Armenian parliament will be dissolved.

Nikol Pashinyan said that the fight is not over; and tomorrow a "total strike" is announced. At the same time, he has stressed that protests are peaceful.
