Protesters set up tents in centre of Yerevan

At night, more than 300 opponents of Serzh Sargsyan stayed in France Square in the centre of Yerevan. The protesters used benches to block the streets leading to the square. Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the protest, urged activists to get prepared for the violent dispersal of the action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to organizers, an opposition rally held in Freedom Square on April 13 was attended more than 15,000 people. After the action, the activists moved to France Square, blocked four streets leading it and announced the continuation of the rally at night.

The oppositionists who stayed in the centre of Yerevan for the night set tents and laid out mattresses, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The protesters expected a power confrontation with the police and conducted a training session: they divided into two groups and simulated a dispersal of demonstrators in order to develop a defence strategy. MP Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the "Civil Accord" Party, called on to get prepared for dispersal of the opposition's action.

The activists suggested that the police could use water cannons and agreed in such a case to move from an open area to a square, where cars could not pass. According to Nikol Pashinyan, the demonstrators will be constantly provided with the information about the location of the police forces in the streets of Yerevan.
