Serzh Sargsyan's opponents march in Yerevan

Today, about 30 people have marched along streets of Yerevan protesting against the nomination of the former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan for the post of Prime Minister.

On April 9, the inauguration of Armen Sargsyan as the new President of Armenia was held; and the presidential powers of Serzh Sargsyan terminated. On April 17, the Parliament will elect the Prime Minister, who, in accordance with the recent constitutional reform, will be the first person of the state.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a joint rally of the Front "For the State of Armenia" and the initiative group "Reject Serzh" in Freedom Square in Yerevan, held in the evening on April 9, gathered about 500 people, who demanded not to allow Serzh Sargsyan, the former President, to the post of the Prime Minister.

Today, the marchers came out of Yerevan District of Achapnyak, and completed their action in Freedom Square, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to organizers – the oppositional "For the sake of state of Armenia" Front – about thirty persons took part in the march. They stretched a banner reading: "On April 9-17, let's unite in the name of saving Armenia!" The activists walked through Yerevan streets, chanting: "We say no to Serzh!" and "Reject Serzh!"

The police did not accompany the march, just urging the organizers and participants not to violate the order of holding rallies and meetings.

Tomorrow, on April 11, oppositionists intend to hold another protest action.
