Armenian experts are sure that the war in Nagorno-Karabakh will not resume

The risk of a large-scale war for Nagorno-Karabakh is minimal, Yerevan military experts believe. However, they did not rule out a new escalation, which may results in more victims than those recorded by the "Caucasian Knot" during the second year of the truce.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Baku experts stated the risk of war resumption.

The situation in the conflict zone is relatively calm, despite periodic escalations, said Samvel Agababyan, the author of the blog "Armenia's Military-Industrial Complex".

He has treated the Baku's actions as the "active frontier" policy, which indicates its readiness to settle the conflict by military means.

Besides, Azerbaijan is actively equipping its Armed Forces with modern weapons; and Armenia has to constantly maintain the balance of forces.

Leonid Nersisyan, the editor-in-chief of the magazine "New Defence Order: Strategies", believes that in the event of a new war, neither side will achieve a quick victory.

Taron Ovannisyan, an expert of the military-analytical portal "Razm.info", has noted that the escalation of the conflict is facilitated by some statements of the Azerbaijani authorities, in particular, a call to return to historical lands, including Yerevan.

Azerbaijan deliberately shells the civilian population, the Armenian Ombudsman believes.

In his turn, Arthur Sakunts, a rights defender and the head of the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Civil Assembly, has treated the shelling of pre-border villages as a violation of the international humanitarian law.
