Ukraine reports Saakashvili's extradition to Poland

Today, employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine have returned Mikhail Saakashvili to the country, from where he penetrated into the Ukrainian territory. "The person was in Ukraine illegally, and therefore, with the observance of all legal formalities, he was returned to the country, from where he arrived with violation of the law," says the statement posted on the website of the Service.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mikhail Saakashvili was deprived of his Ukrainian citizenship on July 26, 2017. On September 10, the former president of Georgia managed to return to Ukraine by breaking with his associates through the Polish-Ukrainian border. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) initiated an investigation under Article 322 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transfer of persons across the state border). In October 2017, the General Public Prosecutor of Ukraine stated that the SMS had refused to grant refugee status to Saakashvili.

The information that Saakashvili flew from Kiev in a private plane "in an unknown direction" was confirmed by a source at the Kiev "Borispol" Airport. "Saakashvili arrived in the airfield in a helicopter; then, he was placed into a private airplane, after which he left the airport," the TASS quotes an airport source as saying.
