Saakashvili says Ukrainian authorities want to deport him to Poland

Mikhail Saakashvili, a former Georgian President, said that the State Migration Service (SMS) of Ukraine had signed a package of documents on his deportation to Poland.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October 2017, the General Public Prosecutor of Ukraine stated that the SMS had refused to grant refugee status to Saakashvili. On January 3, a Kiev court upheld the SMS' opinion that Saakashvili should not have refugee status in Ukraine.

Saakashvili's extradition is demanded by Georgia, where he is accused of several crimes, including embezzlement of state funds and abuse of office.

On February 10, Mikhail Saakashvili told the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel that the Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine was preparing his deportation.

"According to my information, the SMS of Ukraine has signed a package of documents on my deportation, namely, on readmission, that is, they want to send me to the country, from which I entered Ukraine – to Poland," the "Gazeta.ru" quotes Mr Saakashvili as saying.
