Khazbiev complains about "fascist" conditions in Ingush IVS

The court session on changing the freedom restraint measure of Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev was held on January 29 at the Magas District Court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 11, Magomed Khazbiev was detained in Ingushetia on suspicion of illegal firearm possession. On the same day, it became known that additional article had appeared in his case – on insult of a state official.

Kheda Ibrieva, his advocate, has stated at the session that her client "has health problems and needs special medical care." She urged the court to change his custody for house arrest.

"My client's illness is on the list of diseases that prevent the serving of punishment outside the hospital," Ms Ibrieva told the court.

Magomed Khazbiev himself told the court that his persecution had been "initiated by his enemies from pro-governmental structures."

He also said that in the temporary detention centre (known as IVS) "he is kept in solitary cell," and he "has no opportunity to communicate with other detainees." According to his story, the custody conditions at the IVS are "fascist-like".

Finally, in the end, the court refused to change the freedom restriction measure of Magomed Khazbiev.
