Health state of Magomed Khazbiev's father worsens after explosion

Khamzat Khazbiev, the father of Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev, suffered a heart attack after a grenade exploded in a yard of his house. Khamzat Khazbiev was diagnosed with fourth degree of cancer.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to a younger brother of Magomed Khazbiev, a member of the "Mekhk-Khel" movement, at night on January 8, a grenade was thrown into a yard of a house in Nazran, where their parents lived.

Since 2015, Magomed Khazbiev is under state protection in Chechnya due to the fact that, according to the oppositionist,  assassination attempts were several times committed against him.

Murad Khazbiev, a younger brother of Magomed Khazbiev, also said that his mother got a nervous breakdown after the grenade explosion.

Magomed Khazbiev believes that the grenade was thrown into the yard as an act to intimidate him. According to the activist, the incident occurred after he had expressed his desire to return to Ingushetia from Chechnya, where he stayed under state protection for three years. Magomed Khazbiev reported that several days ago, the elders of the clan visited him to discuss his return home.

Advocate Khedi Ibrieva believes that Ingushetia does not want the return of Magomed Khazbiev.
