IS claims responsibility for the attack in Saint Petersburg
The terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) (banned in Russia) claims responsibility for the explosion in a supermarket in Saint Petersburg on December 27, the SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks terrorists’ network activities has reported.
As of December 29, 18 persons have suffered. Initially, investigators qualified the explosion as an assassination attempt, but on December 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident a terror act.
The SITE has reported that the detachment named “Amniyat” (security service) of Islamic terrorists was involved in the explosion, the “Lenta.ru” reports. So far, there are no proofs if IS’ involvement in the explosion.
Earlier, the experts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", noted that the IS militants are passing over from difficultly organized group attacks to single (solo) terror acts, which require minimum funds.
