ICRF refutes information about IED at place of special operation in Stavropol

On December 20, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported the information about an explosive device found in an apartment of a suspected killed in the Stavropol special operation is false.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on December 20, a man allegedly blew up a grenade in a multi-apartment building in Stavropol and then was killed by law enforcers. In the apartment, the law enforcers found an improvised explosive device (IED) with capacity of up to 5 kg in TNT equivalent and defused it, a source from the law enforcement bodies of the Stavropol Territory reported.

On December 20, the press service for the ICRF's Investigating Department for the Stavropol Territory reported that during the inspection of the apartment, no other explosive devices had been found, except for the fragments of the blown-up IED and an RGN hand grenade.

"Rumours circulated about other explosive devices found at the place of the incident are not grounded," reads the statement posted on the website for the ICRF's Investigating Department for the Stavropol Territory.

According to sources from the investigating bodies, the man deliberately came to Stavropol to commit a terror act. According to investigators, in the afternoon on December 19, he arrived in the city and rented an apartment for a day, the "Federal News Agency" reported on December 20.
