Victor Chirikov goes on hunger strike at IVS
Victor Chirikov, a Krasnodar activist, was detained at his home in the village of Poltavskaya on December 19. A court in Krasnodar found him guilty of non-obeying policemen and arrested him for five days. At the temporary detention facility (known as IVS), he went on a hunger strike.
Victor Chirikov's friends believe that his arrest is a preventive measure with the aim not to admit his action undertaken on December 20, 2016, when a Catholic cross was attached to the bust of Dzerzhinsky in Krasnodar on the Day of the State Security Services.
Victor Chirikov went on a hunger strike in protest against arbitrariness of regional law enforcers, the edition named "OVD-Info" wrote on December 20.
In the course of detention, policemen did not allow Victor Chirikov to take his passport, glasses and shoes with him; during the court session, the judge refused to listen to witnesses, and did not wait for the arrival of the hired advocate, Alexei Avanesyan, a Krasnodar lawyer, wrote in his Facebook page.
