Head of Stavropol Navalny's office fined by 150,000 roubles

Today, a Stavropol court has fined Ivan Tanskiy, the coordinator of the local office of Alexei Navalny, for participating in an unsanctioned protest action on October 7.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 7, Stavropol, like many other Russian cities, hosted an action of Alexei Navalny's supporters. In the morning of that day, policemen detained Ivan Tanskiy; however, a few hours later he was released without a protocol under his obligation to appear at the police station in two days.

Today, the Oktiabrsky District Court of Stavropol found Ivan Tanskiy guilty of a repeated violation of the order of holding a public action (Part 8, Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). The local office of Alexei Navalny has reported that Ivan Tanskiy was twice punished for one and the same action on October 7.

"Why is the same person tried twice for the same event? Last month, the coordinator had three court sessions dedicated to the October 7 action. He even served a small administrative arrest <...>. At first, Ivan was tried under Part 8, Article 20.2, and accused of calling for an illegal action; and now he was tried under the same article, but for participation therein," says the message posted today in the community "Navalny's Team | Stavropol".
