Vladimir Vasiliev reacts to protest of truck drivers from Dagestan
Vladimir Vasiliev, the leader of Dagestan, has instructed his subordinates to investigate the situation at the customs and ensure the normal passage of cars across the border with Azerbaijan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 31, truck drivers held a protest action in front of a customs station on the border between Dagestan and Azerbaijan. The truck drivers complained of levies and insulting treatment.
According to the truck drivers, about 200 trucks were accumulated at the customs station. The truck drivers note that customs officers intentionally detain drivers transporting perishable cargo in hope for a bribe for speeding up customs clearance. On November 3, truck drivers reported that after the protest action, the trucks began to pass the customs station a little faster.
"The main goal is to relieve tension at the checkpoint, ensure stable and lawful activities of all parties and prevent long delay of carriers, many of whom transport perishable food products," reported the press service for the leader of Dagestan as quoted by the "Makhachkala News".
