ICRF checks Dagestani resident's complaint about beating of his son by law enforcers

Magomed Alavdinov, a resident of the Dagestani village of Karata, has filed a complaint about the actions of law enforcers who used force against his son after detention.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Magomed Alavdinov that on July 6, Mukhat Alavdinov, his 42-year-old son, was summoned for questioning because of use of marijuana.

"He was taken to some office, where law enforcers used rude words to demand from him to disclose the names of those people who used anasha. My son said that he did not have such information. They began to beat my son, kicked him with their feet, and they used an electric shocker against him," said Magomed Alavdinov.

After the beating, the law enforcers demanded from Mukhat Alavdinov to prepare a narcotic substance from wild cannabis and force him to use it in the presence of the law enforcers and their acquaintances, who served as witnesses.

Magomed Alavdinov filed complaints to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) and the Prosecutor's Office, as well as an appeal addressed to the Russian President with a request to take measures against the law enforcers who tortured his son.

The Prosecutor's Office has forwarded the audit materials to the ICRF's Investigating Department for Dagestan, but the verification of the materials on the abuse committed by the law enforcers is still underway, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a staff member of the Botlikh Interdistrict Investigating Department on September 13.
