Makhauri assassinated in Kiev treated as Kadyrov’s enemy and accomplice in Basaev’s murder

Timur Makhauri, a native of Chechnya, killed by explosion of his car in Kiev, was known as Ramzan Kadyrov's personal enemy and, according to the Turkish Prosecutor's Office, was involved in the murder of Chechen field commander Shamil Basaev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, citing Makhauri’s acquaintances, that he had fought in the Chechen volunteer battalion on the side of Ukrainian authorities.

One of militants’ websites writes that Makhauri was Basaev's personal representative in Georgia and fulfilled his orders.

According to the Russian power agents, Basaev's grouping had planned a terror act in Nazran by using a KamAZ truck stuffed with explosives during the G8 summit; and that very KamAZ exploded in Ekazhevo on July 10, 2006, when Basaev was killed.

The Security Service of Ukraine (known as SBU) has stated that Timur Makhauri, a 39-year-old native of the village of Guchum-Kali of the Itum-Kalin District of Chechnya, was also an irreconcilable opponent of the Putin's style of ruling, and was constantly persecuted by Russian and Chechen special services.

In 1999-2000, Makhauri fought against Russian troops in Dagestan; and in 2008 – in the Georgian-Russian war on the side of Georgia, the SBU reports on the Facebook. He was three times attempted on.
