Sochi: tenants claim their high-rise building unfit for living
On August 26, about 30 residents of an 80-apartment eight-storey building in Shaumyan Street organized a gathering. According to the tenants, the house was put into operation unfit for living: there is no sewage system in the house, no permanent water supply is arranged, and the high-rise building is constructed on a landslide slope. Meanwhile, the participants of the gathering claimed that the authorities and the law enforcement agencies did nothing to improve the situation.
"The developer built a house on a landslide slope without strengthening it. And now the house slowly slides down the slope. Elderly people and children live in the house. Our lives are under threat. We had addressed a lot of agencies, but everywhere we faced silence and lack of reaction. The developer himself does not communicate with us," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Andrei Tserbe.
Meanwhile, according to him, "this summer, residents have learned that there is virtually no sewage system in the house." "While selling apartments to us, the developer claimed that there was a sewage system in the building. We learned about its absence when we felt a strong stinking smell. We found a sewage pipe taken from our house to a lake. All faeces were discharged into the lake for five years. Then the pipe burst. We immediately appealed to the environmental prosecutor's office. However, no reaction has followed," stated Andrei Tserbe.
According to him, the tenants filed a complaint to the "Vodokanal". "Inspectors from the 'Vodokanal' came to us to check the situation. They said that there was no sewage system in our house, and on August 18, water supply was cut off. It turns out that we were punished for the fact that we paid attention to the problem of the absence of the sewage system," noted Andrei Tserbe.
