Moscow investigators to solve Surgut massacre case

The chair of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has instructed Moscow investigators to solve the case on attack on passers-by in Surgut. Parents of Arthur Gadjiev shot and killed by policemen are natives of the Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan. This was reported by the spokesman for Dagestan in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 19, a man armed with a knife attacked passers-by in Surgut. He was killed by police. Seven persons were injured. The family of 19-year-old Arthur Gadjiev shot and killed by policemen came from Dagestan, the "Life" reports.

The parents of Arthur Gadjiev are natives of the Eminkhyur village in the Suleiman-Stalsky District. The father of the killed attacker is serving a sentence in a penal colony. This was reported by Nizami Magomedov, the spokesman for Dagestan in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

Nizami Magomedov noted that Arthur Gadjiev was an unsociable person, and he worked as a security guard in a supermarket.

According to the police and the FSB, the young man came to a shopping centre, attached a bag to his body and tried to set on fire a corridor of the shopping centre. Meanwhile, he inflicted a slight knife wound to a woman. Then the young man walked along the street and attacked passers-by with a knife, the "Kommersant" reports.

After the attacker was killed, the police called dog specialists and combat engineers, and they revealed no explosives on the body of the attacker.
