Organizer of anticorruption rally detained in Makhachkala

Nurmagomed Gazimagomedov has claimed that he was detained in the Makhachkala Park named after the 50th anniversary of October, where he planned to read out his appeal to the Russian President.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 27, in Makhachkala, an anticorruption rally was held in the Park named after the 50th anniversary of Victory. The protest action was attended by more than 300 residents of Dagestan. Eyewitnesses reported the detention of two participants of the protest action, including Abdulla Gabibulaev and Zagalav Somoev. Later, Patimat Gadjieva and Luiza Suleimanova were also detained.

The participants of the anticorruption rally criticized the activities of the Dagestani authorities and officials in towns and villages of the republic. Besides, they also reported the problems of migrants and kidnappings.

"Policemen approached me and said that holding such events in the park was banned. I tried to explain to them that was not a rally and not an action. I was explaining to them that I simply wanted to address the President of the country to pay his attention to corruption in our republic," said Nurmagomed Gazimagomedov.
