Court arrests man suspected of attempting to assassinate Adam Osmaev and Amina Okueva

Today, in Kiev, the court has pronounced the decision to arrest for two months a man suspected of an attempt on Adam Osmaev, a native of Grozny, and his wife Amina Okueva.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the assassination attempt on Adam Osmaev and his wife Amina Okueva was committed in Kiev in the evening of June 1. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), an attacker "pretended to be a foreign journalist and got into the confidence of Adam Osmaev and Amina Okueva, opened fire from a pistol and wounded Adam Osmaev. His wife "opened fire in return and seriously wounded the killer," the MIA reports. Adam Osmaev underwent surgery.

An assassination attempt on Adam Osmaev and his wife Amina Okueva was committed by Arthur Denisultanov (Kurmakaev), a native of Chechnya, also known as "Dingo". This was reported on June 2 by several Ukrainian and Russian media with reference to their sources. Arthur Kurmakaev was a suspect in the case of the murder in Vienna of Umar Israilov, a personal bodyguard of Ramzan Kadyrov.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of Kiev, the man suspected of attempting to assassinate Adam Osmaev and Amina Okueva was arrested for 60 days without the right to be released on bail.

It should be reminded that Adam Osmaev was put by the Russian authorities on the international wanted list on suspicion of plotting terror acts and detained in Odessa on February 4, 2012. According to the Russian law enforcement agencies, Adam Osmaev was plotting an assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin. Adam Osmaev himself pleaded not guilty and claimed being subjected to torture.
