Bashar al-Assad and Mufti of Chechnya agree to open branch of Damascus University in Grozny

On April 24, the Chechen delegation led by Mufti Salakh Mezhiev has left for Syria on an official visit. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a representative of the Chechen Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM).

"Within the framework of the visit to Syria, a number of meetings with officials of the Syrian authorities and religious figures of the country are planned. The visit is aimed at further strengthening of the ties between our parties," explained Salakh Mezhiev.

Today, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has reported that in Damascus, Salakh Mezhiev was met by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

According to Ramzan Kadyrov, at the meeting, Bashar al-Assad and Salakh Mezhiev agreed on the question of issuing diplomas to Russian citizens who graduated from the DamascusUniversity or defended dissertations there.

On February 21, the rectors of the three higher educational institutions of Grozny signed an agreement with the rector of the DamascusUniversity. According to the above agreement, students from Chechnya will be able to study in Syria

"The positive answer was received concerning the above question. And there is an agreement to open a branch of the DamascusUniversity in Grozny," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on his Instagram page.
