Check in connection with Nadezhda Degtereva’s death resumed in Sochi

Investigators have cancelled the refusal to open a criminal case in connection with the death of Nadezhda Degtereva, a 36-year-old Sochi resident. Her mother Praskovya Degtereva insists that her daughter was driven to suicide by "black realtors".

In September 2016, Nadezhda Degtereva and her mother reported that their apartment in Sochi had been secretly re-sold. According to the Degterevs, other townspeople had also suffered from this fraudulent scheme. The court ruled to evict the Degterevs out of their apartment. On January 27, it became known that Nadezhda Degtereva committed suicide.

Now, an additional check is being conducted, Alexei Kozachek, the Public Prosecutor of the Tsentralny District of Sochi, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Earlier, Praskovya Degtereva stated that "a gang of ‘black realtors ‘ is operating in Sochi: they look for elderly and sick people and deprive them of their housing by deceits and threats, while law enforcement bodies shelter them by their inaction."

As evidence, the woman appended her daughter's deathbed statement about bringing her to suicide by a group of "black realtors" and the refusal of investigators to open a criminal case into the death of Nadezhda Degtereva.

Should investigators refuse to open a criminal case in connection with Nadezhda’s death, the "Open Sochi" movement will "carry out its own investigation," said its leader Gennady Kotenko.
