Abdurakhman Usmanov reports "backdating" signing of interrogation protocol
In Rostov-on-Don, during an interrogation at the trial, Abdurakhman Usmanov, a native of Dagestan, accused of aiding and abetting militants in Syria, claimed that he had signed the protocol with his confession dated with a back date as a result of torture and threats. The defence requested to appoint an examination to determine the date of signing of the protocol, but the court dismissed the motion.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Abdurakhman Usmanov's case is being considered at the North-Caucasian District Military Court. According to investigators, in the summer of 2014, the defendant left for Syria and entered the terrorist training centre of the "Islamic State" (IS) (banned in Russia), and until October 2015, he guarded the positions of militants, collected money for widows and children of militants, and hired advocates and bribed law enforcers in Turkey to help detained terrorists.
Abdurakhman Usmanov told the court that after he denied the law enforcers' proposal to participate in identification of persons suspected of involvement in terrorist activities and aiding and abetting terrorism, he was repeatedly subjected to torture. According to the defendant, on January 6, 2016, he opened his veins and was brought to hospital.
Abdurakhman Usmanov noted that several times he went on hunger strike with a demand to stop falsifying the criminal case against him. Besides, according to him, he refused to cooperate with the investigators and give evidence.
The defendant said that in late October 2016, the case was closed, and after that, he was again tortured. According to him, on November 3, 2016, law enforcers demanded from him to sign a new version of the interrogation protocol dated December 10, 2015, and they threatened him in case of his refusal to throw drugs to his civil wife and put her in prison.
