Ruslan Tagibekov detained in Moscow Region subjected to torture, his defence asserts

Law enforcers tortured Ruslan Tagibekov, a native of Dagestan, suspected of illicit trafficking in weapons. This was claimed by his defence. On February 18, Ruslan Tagibekov was formally charged.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that 27-year-old Ruslan and 26-year-old Tarlan Tagibekov were detained after a search of their rented apartment in the Moscow Region. According to the suspects and their relatives, the ammunition was planted. On February 13, the court arrested the Tagibekov brothers until April 9.

According to Sophia Rubasskaya, an advocate of the Bar Association of Moscow "Novy Arbat", Ruslan Tagibekov complained to her about being tortured with electric current at an investigator's room.

"The violence stopped after the intervention of warders of the IVS (temporary detention facility). Now Tagibekov complains about pain in his heart," said Sophia Rubasskaya.

The defence requests to submit video records from surveillance cameras at the IVS for the day when Ruslan Tagibekov was detained by law enforcers and to prevent further proceedings with the detainee without presence of the advocate.

Sophia Rubasskaya has also added that the results of the examination of samples of skin from the brothers' hands were reported on February 18. According to the examination results, "no traces of ammunition were detected."

During interrogation, Ruslan Tagibekov has called the criminal case fabricated against him, since "he professed the traditional concept of Islam."
