Lawyer Sergey Zemtsov attacked, Kuban farmers report

Lawyer Sergey Zemtsov, who represents the interests of participants of the "tractor march", has been attacked this night. This was reported by Alexei Volchenko, the leader of the Kuban farmers' movement "Polite Farmers".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 25, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) instituted a criminal case of fraud with lease of land plots against Nikolai Borodin, a participant of the Kuban farmers' tractor march, and Elena Petrova, a wife of another participant of the "tractor march". Nikolai Borodin has suggested that they are prosecuted for their involvement in the protests. The defence has appealed against the criminal case, reports Sergey Zemtsov, a blogger and a lawyer.

Alexei Volchenko has noted that the attack occurred on the eve of consideration by the court of the Sergey Zemtsov's complaint with a request to cancel the decision on institution of criminal proceedings against Nikolai Borodin and Elena Petrova. The consideration of the complaint was scheduled for today.

The information about the pressure on Sergey Zemtsov has been also confirmed by farmer Nikolai Maslov. According to him, criminals "smashed the windows in the lawyer's car and put cans with gasoline in the cabin and close to the car."

"Besides, he repeatedly got threats with murder via phone and anonymous letters," Nikolai Maslov wrote on his page in the Facebook.
