At rally, residents of Chechen village of Kurchaloi decide to evict militants' families

On January 16, Kurchaloi, a district centre in Chechnya, hosted a gathering, which participants made a decision to evict in future family members of militants from the republic. The gathering was held in Kurchaloi after five villagers had been detained in a special operation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that residents of Chechnya reported about mass detentions carried out in eight villages of the republic after the armed clash which occurred on January 11 at the village of Tsotsi-Yurt of the Kurchaloi District. On January 16, a source from the law enforcement bodies reported that as a result of a special operation held in Chechnya, law enforcers detained 60 people suspected of involvement in the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia by court's decision.

According to an official of the administration of the Kurchaloi District of Chechnya, the gathering of Kurchaloi residents was attended by several hundred people.

"The gathering was organized, since the number of members of a criminal grouping, detained last week, included several local residents," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the Kurchaloi District administration.

According to the official, people who delivered speeches at the gathering have called on parents to strictly control their children in order to prevent their involvement in illegal activities by various extremist movements.
