Rights defenders: Ramazan Djalaldinov's story spoils Kadyrov's reputation

Ramazan Djalaldinov, a disappeared resident of the Chechen village of Kenkhi, who criticized the Chechen authorities, stays in a safe place. This was reported by Svetlana Gannushkina. Violation of the deal with Ramazan Djalaldinov casts a shadow on Ramzan Kadyrov himself and on Khasmagomed Abubakarov, a religious figure, who was named as a guarantor of the deal. This opinion was voiced by Valery Borschev. Igor Kalyapin believes that pressure on Ramazan Djalaldinov could come from officials, whose interests were affected by his criticism.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that relatives and fellow villagers of Ramazan Djalaldinov announced his disappearance on November 7. On November 10, he contacted Svetlana Gannushkina, the leader of the Committee "Civil Assistance", and told her that he had left the republic after the threats voiced by Chechen law enforcers.

According to Valery Borschev, a member of the Moscow Helsinki Group, by its actions, the Chechen authorities return the republic to the Stalin repression era.

Igor Kalyapin, the leader of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture, believes that in Chechnya, the actions against Ramazan Djalaldinov could be initiated not by Ramzan Kadyrov. According to Igor Kalyapin, the situation implies a corruption component.

Violation of the oral agreement between the Chechen authorities and Ramazan Djalaldinov may negatively affect the reputation of Ramzan Kadyrov. This opinion was voiced by Akhmet Yarlykapov, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Senior Researcher at the Centre for Ethno-Political Studies of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). According to Akhmet Yarlykapov, it is still difficult to predict the consequences of the Ramazan Djalaldinov's confrontation against the Chechen authorities.
