In Azerbaijan, majority of voters support constitutional reform

According to the results of processing of 72.7% of ballots, 91.2% of voters have supported the increase in the presidential term from five to seven years and other proposed amendments to the Constitution. This has been reported today by Mazakhir Panakhov, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 26, Azerbaijan held the voting at the referendum on amendments to the Constitution.

"91.2% of the voters supported the proposal to increase the presidential term in office, and more than 89% of the voters supported the introduction of the institute of vice-presidents in the country," reported Mazakhir Panakhov as quoted by the "vesti.az".

According to him, the proposal to lift the age limit at election of MPs was supported by 88.3% of voters, while 91% of voters supported the proposal to lift the age limit for the presidential election. Besides, 87.4% of voters voted in favour of the proposal to entitle the president of the country to dissolve the parliament.
