In Sochi, Mayoralty auctions off 25 "Olympic" cottages

The auction for sale of residential houses with land plots located in Khosta District of Sochi is scheduled for October 13. 25 houses are to be auctioned off at starting prices of 4.5-11.7 million roubles.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since 2011, residents of Sochi repeatedly complained about derelict state of the village, built for "Olympic" settlers in the village of Vesyoloe, and its misuse. The houses, originally designed to accommodate volunteers and Sochi residents whose houses were demolished for the construction of Olympic facilities, were transferred to the balance of the Sochi Mayoralty and put up for auctions.

The auctions for sale of the houses built in preparation for the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games were started in the summer of 2015. Residents of Sochi interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" claimed that the prices for the cottages set up by officials of the Sochi Mayoralty are unreasonably high.

On September 28, 2015, the first Olympic cottage of 32 square meters was sold for 8.841 million roubles, while the starting price was 8.75 million roubles. The average price for cottages in the village was set up at 21 million roubles; however, most of the houses were not sold immediately. Later, the prices for the cottages went down and reached 3.2-21.3 million roubles.
