KChR's State Duma candidates criticize organization of debates

A number of candidates for Russian MPs from the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) assert that there were no obstacles to their campaigning; however, the candidate Inna Nasheva argues that she was under pressure.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, along with the elections to the State Duma, the KChR will hold 17 election campaigns in six municipal districts, and the election of the head of the republic.

"At times, they tore away our banners and posters; but we had no obstacles to meetings with voters, and no problems with getting premises for them," Akhmad Abazov, a member of the "Yabloko" Party, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Eduard Marshankulov, a candidate from the "Communists of Russia" Party, has also stated that he felt no pressure. "Unlike earlier years and my previous election campaigns, this time surprising things happen: nobody has put pressure on me; nobody interfered with my campaigning, and I didn't feel any administrative resources used against me," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

However, he did not rule out that pressure could happen on the voting day or after the elections.

In her turn, Inna Nasheva, a candidate from the "Party of Growth", said that she felt some pressure. "They told me frankly: you won't pass through! They warned me not to run!" she told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
