In Dagestan, participants of interreligious forum speak against extremism and same-sex marriages
Caucasian young people following the different religious concepts should unite in the fight against the extremism, the practice of divorce, and the idea of same-sex marriages. This was stated on July 30 by religious leaders at the opening of the third Interreligious youth forum in Dagestan.
This year, about 400 delegates of the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), Kuban, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Azerbaijan are registered for the participation in the forum.
At the opening of the forum, the delegates have read out the message of Ramzan Abdulatipov. In his message, the Dagestani leader states that it is necessary to activate interreligious dialogue among young people for the fight against "international terrorism and extremism."
In his speech, Makhachkala and Grozny Bishop Varlaam has stated that the forum participants gathered "to discuss problems of terrorism and extremism." Magdi-Khadji Mutailov, the acting mufti of Dagestan, also drew the attention of the audience to the problems of extremism and terrorism. Moreover, he has called on the delegates to fight against alcoholism, frequent divorces, and "all sorts of ideas about same-sex marriages, imposes on us by the West", RIA "Dagestan" quotes the speakers as reporting.
On the same day, Vitaly, Priest of the Makhachkala Diocese, held a discussion with the participants of the forum about the decline of traditional values, reports the website of the Committee for cooperation with religious organizations of Dagestan.
