Miners from Gukovo report on collapse in mine

During three weeks, the hole, resulting from the collapse in an abandoned mine located near the farm of Zamchalovsky in the town of Gukovo, has significantly increased. This was reported by miners. According to them, nobody controls abandoned and flooded mines, and the town may face mass caving.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from May, in the Rostov Region, workers of the company "Kingcoal South", which operated in Gukovo, hold regular pickets with the demand to pay wage arrears, and criminal proceedings were instituted against the general director of the company "Kingcoal South". The miners claim that because of lack of control over the abandoned mines, the problem of flooding arises.

Alexei Kovalev, a former miner, has reported on a major hole in the land, formed on the territory of the abandoned mine "Zamchalovskaya" in the Zamchalovsky suburb of the town of Gukovo.

According to Alexei Kovalev, the mines continue to be uncontrollably flooded, and holes increase rapidly.

The hole was to be eliminated until June 25, claims Valery Dyakonov, one of the organizers of the protest actions. He has explained that the appropriate decision was made at a meeting with Mikhail Tikhonov, Minister of Fuel and Energy of the Rostov Region.

According to Valery Dyakonov, the hole has not been eliminated under the pretext that the mine is private property, even though the very land plot is leased from the state.
