Fifty local traders come to protest in Khasavyurt

Their discontent was caused by policemen's raids in Khasavyurt and confiscations of Turkish-made foodstuffs and textile goods.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 28, 2015, President of Russia signed a decree on special economic measures against Turkey. Actually, the document introduced a ban on imports from Turkey, including poultry meat, vegetables and fruits. Russian entrepreneurs said that the ban would seriously damage small and medium-sized businesses.

According to the organizers of the protest, its participants were 50 people – traders of local marketplaces. The action was held near the building of the administration of Khasavyurt and lasted from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

As reported by the protesters, from the start of the year, policemen have been regularly raiding local marketplaces. "They basically checked the goods from Turkey, allegedly, for counterfeit. But, mainly, they were warning raids. Some traders were fined for selling fruits and vegetables from Turkey," one of the traders from Municipal Marketplace No. 2, who presented himself as Nurislam, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

However, according to Nurislam, starting from March 27, during the raids, policemen "began to confiscate en masse under various pretexts not only fruits and vegetables, but also clothes."
